Administrative history:

Community Arts Council Hornby Island (C.A.C.H.I.) was registered as a non-profit society in June 1993 and was officially launched on January 23, 1994.  The founding meeting was chaired by Donna Dickson and was attended by twenty supporters of the arts who had worked together for months in order to establish C.A.C.H.I., an arts coalition. The first Board of Directors was composed of Moira Armour, Christine Hamilton, Ann Milligan, Muriel Rogers, Alma Schofield, and Gail Tuttle.

C.A.C.H.I. was a non-profit, volunteer-based organization with a mandate to stimulate and develop arts activities at the local level. The council was involved in and hosted various arts-related events and activities, including co-ordinating the Community Quilt fundraising project in 1995, hosting a series of “Coffee Houses” in 1995, and participating in the Hornby Island Community School’s Arts Afternoons Program.

C.A.C.H.I. was a member of the Assembly of British Columbia Art Councils and Pacific Region Arts Council and operated out of the Room to Grow, where their information/events bulletin board and a resource library were located.

Community Arts Council Hornby Island dissolved in August 1998.
