Administrative history: Established in 1999 the Hornby Island Blues Society held an annual student blues workshop annually, inviting Canadian musicians from across the country to act as instructors, as well as hosting other blues concerts and events.  The Society, the musicians and the sound technician all had an equal share in the profits and the endeavour was supported by a large volunteer base and a volunteer board. As of this time (June 2024) the Society is still in operation and has just completed its 25th anniversary Blues Week, although only its 23rd annual workshop due to the disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Scope and content: The records pertain to the formation, history, events and activities of the Hornby Island Blues Society and in particular the annual Blues Workshop held by the Society. The collection includes textual records, correspondence, workshop information booklets, meeting minutes, financial documents, promotional posters and other ephemera.
